Myanmar’s military regime in Naypyidaw, which seized power during the coup on Feb. 1, 2021, announced a new administration, general elections scheduled for December, and a series of newly-enforced laws that human rights groups say will tighten Min Aung Hlaing’s grip on power. The regime calls it a transition. But is this really a new chapter… or just a new way to seek legitimacy from other countries?
